    1. People don’t like these guys. I’ve never seen an unironic Qing fan other than for pre-1800 Qing.

They just hate the guys that came after them more.

Pretty sure pre-WW2 Persia was a good place to live, especially as a woman, due to Pahlavi’s reforms and almost making Persia secular (which is bad, but nothing compared to the craziness that we see today, due to people making terrorist attacks due to religion).

No shit. If it got worse, people want to go back lmao. Certain type of governments exist in certain regions of the world for a reason. What reason? You’d could have 100 scholars and politicians in a room together for a debate and they wouldn’t be able to tell you for sure, besides “this group of people got powerful first and was able to maintain it”

    4. I ain’t a commie, but I don’t think the Soviet Union was worse than Tsarist Russia, same with China.

I think the only one that really got worse was just Iran.

Ok but in all 3 cases they did have better drip.

That’s like 90% of what makes a country good.

    6. Get Iran out of your dirty mouth, the shah promoted women’s rights and was a modernizing force for all of Iran

    7. In the russian empire everyone starved, in the USSR mainly just Ukrainians and kazakhs starved

I’d rather have no one starve but one if worse than the other

    8. I don’t know much about Iran, but Soviet Union and Communist China were not worse than the empires they toppled by any metric. At most one could argue they were the same in some regards and even that might be a stretch.

    9. by what merit was life in the USSR or the communist China worse than it was in the imperial times? most sources universally agree, that despite how monstrous their regimes could be, they improved the quality of life significantly

    10. “Every government that isn’t the US is evil”

      You probably.

Both Romanov Russia and the Soviet Union (except Stalin) were great. Both Qing and Communist China (Mao did a few oopsies but his intentions were good) were great. Both Britain and the US were great.

Idk about Iran because I didn’t research enough yet.

This is fucking hilariously wrong. Russia went from a feudal backwater to putting the first man in space in 40 years. The quality of life under the USSR, while still lower than the US, was a lot better than literally being a serf.

Nobody, and I mean fucking nobody, wanted the Qing or Tsarist Russia back except for maybe people who weren’t from that country that just hate Communists. Hate their successors all you want, they deserve it. But what they replaced were objectively worse in every sense. Even Iran, where it arguably is worse, doesn’t have anybody calling for the return of the Shah

Get out of here with this monarchist bullshit. Nobody wants a king, and we’re all glad they’re dead.

    13. How exactly is the USSR worse than late-Imperial Russia? Even regardless of what you think of the USSR, by the end of the Russian Empire’s existence it had literally nothing going for it.

    14. Imagine being so brain dead as to believe that Russia and China were better before their revolutions…

    15. With the exception of Iran, no, it did not lead to something worse.

It lead to massive improvements in women’s rights, worker’s rights (yeah, they were even shittier under those monarchies), literacy, education, and almost every metric desirable in a civilization.

Iran is *really* an outlier here, since it lead to what is pretty much the opposite.

    16. As an Iranian, he’s absolutely right. Most Iranians are outright fuckin delusional for wanting the Oahlavi era back.

    17. So the downfall of the shah was the replacement of a pretty corrupt but stable and seculare regime into a islamist “republic”, hard to compare it to the qing and the russian tsars who lead backward nations and they refused to mpdernise, where completly disillusioned with the common peoples problem.

The russian tars also built a secret police that censored people, dealt with any kind of dissent by sending them to siberia (this wasnt invented by the soviets guys) and who used anti semitism as a weapon to persecute jews and who fabricated the “protocols of the elders zion”

Russian Republic all the way. February’s legacy will live on through the darkest of times.
