There was a thread a few days ago about wallets and keys being one of the things to go obsolete in the future because Phones will replace most of those functions.
Several people said that would never happen because phone batteries can die.
I argued that when your life depends on your phone, you’ll find ways to keep it charged. Even homeless people figure out how to get a charge for the phone.

I’ve heard of the homeless doing crazy things with the utility power lines too.

The city where I live installed new lights downtown, and they all have weatherproof outlets on them. This was intended for extra lighting, like during Christmas, but it comes in handy when local shops want to string up more lights outside over the sidewalk, homeless to charge their phones, kids to charge their eBikes, etc.
It’s really nice. Even the local park that they built near downtown has concrete structure to provide seating, and has outlets on it.

It’s pretty telling that no matter where the location, Harbor Freight’s main customer base is homeless people.

There’s a whole society of people who live underground in NYC and get all the power from the NYC Subway system etc. They got lights, hot plates, tv’s. It’s nuts.
