The only surviving image of Stalins two deadliest secret police chiefs, Lavrentiy Beria & Nikolai Yezhov, together in the 1930s. Yezhov directed the “Great Terror” of 1936-38 before being replaced by his deputy Beria, who is rumored to have personally strangled Yezhov upon succeeding him (2627×1985)

    1. If you google the name Beria, strangling his predecessor is but a ‘fait divers’… Even Stalin didnn’t want that guy unsupervised around his kids.
