    1. My mom, a teacher, would glare at me if I used two circles to make an eight.

I am gonna try this one on her.

    2. While I don’t do this, I must say that 8 is my least consistent number when writing. They never look good.

    3. A friend of mine has handwriting that looks like elvish. I asked him how or why he got it like that. He told me that as an adult you can decide for yourself how you want to write.

    4. I currently work Quality Assurance for a pharma contracting company and would have a field day with this. I see at least 3 reasons in this why I would kick the form back, although to be fair 2 are me being super picky and only apply to my specific companies policies (the use of purple ink and the date format).

The 8 though…if that is really how they write them we’d legitimately have to sit them down and talk to them about why we can never sign that in our industry (it’s ambiguous). I’d also then show them how bad MY handwriting is so I don’t feel like as much of a jerk.

    5. Yea someone should tell them to stop immediately. Being “quirky” is cool on your own time, but when working for a company? Things need to be written properly. No one should have to decipher if you meant 66 or 8.

    6. I wonder if it’s like a quirky handwriting choice or something they did as a kid because they had trouble writing 8s and never stopped

    7. I was in my 30’s before I learned people have strong opinions about how others write the number 8.

    8. That is just plane annoying, like how my child writes an 8 by using two adjacent circles instead of writing it as one loop crossing itself. Then again, I watched how they write a 9 by starting at the bottom & using an upstroke & then a single semicircle & I then changed my style to that instead of the (I now see) inefficient way of starting the loop first & doubling back on the down-stroke. They figured out that writing a 6 or a 9 is just an inversion.

    9. If I were their boss i’d have to say something tbh. looks like a young person’s handwriting by the bubbly dotted I.
