Camera “plateau” as apple calls it plus a camera bump…
With how phones are evolving at the moment, I’d rather get a flat phone back with worse cameras built in and get an extra high quality camera, which is detachable or standalone and wirelessly connected.

Nepal is the flattest country in the world (we have excluded all mountains).

That’s like an early midlife crises… the 18yo is trying to be thinner than when they were 10yo

Just add a smaller screen to the phone and make it a bit thicker?

The thing with a lot of modern phones is they go for thinness, and design lines that compromise the performance of battery life and robustness of the phone.
So first thing everyone does is put a big case and screen protector on it.

Usually, people compete to see who has the biggest, but here it is important to see who is thinner.

Overall I would love a phone that is just flat on the back. I don’t mind if that makes the phone less thin. Mind the thickness less than the camera hump.

Why is a thin phone a good selling point?

I wish Samsung would revive their Galaxy K Zoom series. Having a full lens at the back of a phone was great!

The beauty of it is: you don’t have to buy it!

what does height even matter when everyone needs to put those fragile things into $5 phonecases anyways.

My family don’t care about thinness, we care about width and height. As people have pointed out, most phones get a case that wipes the thinnes out.

I’d rather a thicker phone with a removable battery. IE the old Nokia ‘click off’ batteries.

This is a physics problem, if you want that big of a sensor to take photos you need a bigger lens and all of that takes physical space.
The iPhone 6 had a smaller sensor, hence it doesn’t need the plateau.

This is why American SUVs are ridiculously big. One company decides to make it a little bigger and then they all get into a size race for no other reason than to beat their competitors. Do they even ask consumers what they want? Have you ever thought to yourself – I wish my phone was 1mm thinner?

Don’t forget the battery capacity of iPhone 6 is like 1810mah .. horrible for brand-new phone to charge more than once a day while android phones has over 3000mah battery

Honestly, i miss when phones weren’t insanely thin since it compromises so much just for appearance’s sake. I mean, hell, I miss flip-phones but don’t miss the complicated and annoying way you had to type in order to text people.

Lifelong Apple guy here. Not a fanboy, just been in the ecosystem since the inception. A serious question that I have is one that everybody asks, but I feel like they ask it rhetorically. I mean it literally: has anyone ever met anybody who is psyched about how thin their iPhone is? I never have, and everyone I know says they would rather have a fatter phone with a longer battery life. Seriously: has anyone ever met someone who liked that their latest phone is thinner than their previous phone?

My Samsung is thin. But I have a case on it so it’s not. When it’s out of the case tho, it’s so thin I get all impressed.
