I wish someone would design a modern font inspired by this style of calligraphy.
Someone once told me this was the [final result of manuscript writing](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/54/Codex_Boreelianus_F%2B_%2809%29%2C_Mk_1.JPG) before Western Europe developed a fascination with Roman script and decided to revert to stone inscription capitals and Carolingian miniscule, abandoning this narrow/wide alternating minimalist style that had been polished for centuries.
It only survived in the east and early Cyrillic until a czar developed a Western European fetish and westernized the letter shapes.
We lost this writing style, similar to how we lost black letter less than a century ago. Sad.
