Nah, we said that last time. Trump oversaw a fucking insurrection and refused to accept the results of an election and *they let him run again*. The man should’ve been nowhere near able to be a candidate again, let alone president.
And yet Dems and the American public at large didn’t do nearly enough to stamp out the threat of autocracy when it reared its head the first time. You don’t get a second time to stop it…

There wasn’t even a proper reckoning after WWII. A few figureheads got public trials but most of those who profited the most from war and genocide were never punished. The fact that companies like Siemens and Bayer even still exist is proof of that. Not to mention the 30,000 American Nazis who filled Madison Square Garden, or the crucial assistance that IBM gave the Nazis.
This is how you push further down the path of irreconcilable tit for tat -ism that inevitably splinters the country until no one but a fascist strong man can “fix it.” They push hard, we push back harder, then they push ever further until inevitably nothing’s left.
Day one: up the court to 13 and stack it, then overturn Citizens United, outlaw gerrymandering and start giving the county back to the people instead of corporations.

Democrat leadership doesn’t want this. They thrive in scenarios where they can promise the world, but not be ‘able’ to deliver on those promises. Everyone hates Manchin and Sinema, but, Democrats always have a Manchin and Sinema. That’s how they want it. Even in 2008, when they appeated to have a super majority in the Senate, Lieberman prevented the ACA from having a public option.
I’m not even particularly convinced that Dem leadership wants to control the Senate again. They’re certainly not acting like it. They seem fine with being the ‘Minority Opposition Party’.
