Persepolis in Iran, heart of the Persian Empire, is preparing to host the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra — the ancient city’s first-ever international public concert, with ambassadors from around the world invited. [1680×1001]

Although Persepolis has hosted several domestic concerts and events over the years, this will be its first-ever international concert – and only the second international event since 1971, when the 2,500th anniversary of the Empire was celebrated during the Pahlavi era, attended by officials and guests from over 60 countries.

Over half a century later, on August 18, 2025, during the Iranian President’s visit to Armenia, it was agreed that Persepolis would host the 100th anniversary concert of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Preparations have since begun, including a visit by the Armenian ambassador to Shiraz to inspect the stage. The event is set to be a major cultural milestone between Iran and Armenia, two nations with deep historical ties.

Armenian artists are confirmed to perform both Persian and Armenian poetry, and the orchestra’s repertoire will include works by Armenian composers alongside classical masterpieces. Authorities in Fars Province have announced their full readiness to host this historic concert, which is scheduled for September 6, 2025, and is expected to attract thousands of attendees from around the world. Ambassadors from several countries have also been invited to the ceremony.
