Strange how Garuda and the naga like mucalinda made it into Buddhism, considering it’s closely associated with Vaishnavism, and would make the iconography of the Buddha Shakyamuni look almost identical too the iconography associated with Vishnu in Vaishnavism, which seems counter productive considering Buddhism wanted to branch into its own genre after developing from the Sramana movement.
