There is also a valuable message in “Visakan stopped at Owl 9, because he realized he didn’t want to draw owls anymore.” Getting the reps in is important, but it’s also important to realize (a) when you have accomplished what you want to accomplish with those reps and (b) the sunk cost of the reps doesn’t make you feel like you should keep doing something that you aren’t enjoying anymore.

I had a phase where I drew a simple flower for my ex-girlfriend every day. I probably reached around 200 before it ended. They didn’t look bad, but also didn’t improve noticeably 😅
