Ancient Daorsi surely existed in the lower Neretva from the second century BCE to the second century CE. It was first mostly a autonomous sociopolitical unit until the Roman conquest of this area in the second and first centuries BCE. After Roman conquest, Daorsi became a civitas peregrina in the Roman province of Dalmatia.
