This would make more sense as something that Alexander Hamilton would be saying to James Madison, and it would make more sense if there were multiple speech balloons coming from each of the two characters, but it still made me chuckle.

Members of the Electoral College were once selected by a state legislature and not directly elected by the people. Having a complete buffoon in the White House would have been far less likely in that scenario. But they didn’t have a two party system when they were writing the Constitution.
But ranked choice voting seems to neutralize extremist candidates.

We actually do have that in the Constitution. The original purpose of the Electoral College is to prevent exactly that. Obviously though, the dumb fucks managed to usurp that, too.
