Bajiao Ancient City, literally meaning “eight corners”, was built during the Han Dynasty and has a history of 2,000 years. From an aerial perspective, Bajiao Ancient City appears to be a hollow cross with eight corners, hence its name. Gansu Province, China [1920×1079]

Why cant I find this place on Google maps?
i looked it up because i almost couldn’t believe the picture. Bajiao is in Xiahe county in Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, the mountainous southwest of Gansu. it’s a very remote place. the people who live there are all/mostly ethnic Tibetans.
