2 huge Roman wooden barrels in an outstanding state of preservation, found in Xanten. Both had a capacity of approximatively 1250 l and were used to transport wine from the Mediterranean region to the Lower Rhine. Now housed at the Xanten Roman Museum in Germany [1588×2048]

Roman’s were around for a long time. Do you know the era?
I visited [the museum](https://apx.lvr.de/en/index.html) earlier this year. Well worth a detour.
