A 6,200-year-old skeleton of a girl has been found by the archaeologists at an ancient cemetery in the Iranian province of Khuzestan, with signs of deliberate skull deformation. Scientists say that her head had been tightly bound with bandages — a practice used to signify social class. [1200×800]

The skull was discovered in the burial site of a large number of human skeletons in individual and group graves. Some of these graves belonged to members of the same family.

Scientists and archaeologists have been conducting activities in the area for decades, and among their important findings is the discovery of the oldest known brick tomb in history.
