…This is the first group representing more than a single figure in European sculptural history to be conceived without a dominant viewpoint. It can be equally admired from all sides. This marble group was conceived to be displayed in this place and has been in the Loggia since 1583.

If you will allow me a personal confidence this time, and admitting there are many sculptures more relevant than this one, this is my favorite. I have shot it many times from different [viewpoints, ](https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtefactPorn/comments/v6sc1v/the_rape_unfortunate_translation_of_abduction_of/#lightbox)alone or along with its other amazing [companions](https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtefactPorn/comments/1cojtnq/many_of_the_amazing_statues_inside_the_loggia_dei/). That is probably why the Loggia is one of my favorite places to sit in the world. Not that I often do, I live far from Italy…

As usual, apologies for inaccuracies and mistakes.
