My pinky toe has turned sideways over the years.

It was once married to the next toe, but they had an acrimonious divorce.

    2. I’m commenting to check this thread later because my pinky toe also faces sideways. If it’s anything like the usual advice on here it will be a form of highly aggressive cancer

    3. I am certainly not an expert, but aren’t your shoes too tight in the front?
First, this really reminds me of foot binding, as used to be practiced in China (just not as extreme).
Second, I have just realized that my pinky toes also used to turn inwards 😄, but ever since I’ve switched to barefoot shoes they are getting back to normal.
So I would suggest switching to barefoot shoes.
They are more expensive, but well worth the price.

On the plus side, you won’t be getting the feet fetish fans mailing you

“Normal” shoes are not normal footshapes. You need a good barefoot shoe and good toe spacer to hopefully undo some of the damage.

    6. My pinky was like that before and even shoved under the toe next to it. Changed the shoes I wear to make sure they have a wider toe box and a year later it’s back to looking normal

    7. You should try barefoot shoes. They let the toes move freely and not jam them together. Also less hot and way more comfy and also a bunch of health benefit. Better posture, better spine etc

    8. Happened to me too, did you break yours at all? I always assumed it was bc i broke each of them many times over the years.

Both my little toes are tucked in and slightly twisted. I believe it’s down to shoes, maybe even tighter socks.

I’m worried about it in a “I’ll deal with that tomorrow” sort of way.

    10.  there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for

    11. It sucks to have wide feet. If you keep cramming your feet into narrow shoes, eventually you’ll have bunions too.

    12. For years I thought I was still size 12. Eventually I noticed my pinkie toe doing something similar to yours. I now wear size 13 and the toe returned to normal.

      Anyone with actual information on

      * what generally causes this
      * if it’s likely to cause any other related issues
      * if there’s anyway to improve it

      I’m very interested!

It’s because we wear pointed shoes.

Humans have wide-set toes naturally, since we don’t wear box-toed shoes or naturally shaped shoes our toes/feet will form to the shape of our everyday shoes.

This means toes can end up under each other, amongst other things.

Your shoes have been too narrow, buy wider shoes and check in with a podiatrist
