I never heard of that movie, and I thought that I knew every obscure scifi film from the old times. Thanks for revealing it!

This totally looks like something Kryten would watch in Red Dwarf.

I only came across this yesterday rewatching East Bound & Down. There’s a quick clip of an odd robot on a TV. Thankfully, IMDB had the answer in the trivia section. I feel like I’d heard the title before but after watching the trailer I’d definitely never seen it or the film: https://youtu.be/GrGBmi3BVfo

Saw it as a child I recall it being rather sad.

The twist ending with the insult comic robot is pretty cool.

Like the film more than I would admit

Created by Stan Winston who used gelatin pigmented with metallic powder for the prosthetics.

Top right looks like Russel Crowe meets Effie Trinket.

I was so scared of the cop robot, which also doubled as the “Venus space probe” in the six million dollar man…..”It’s from Venus Steve!!!……..VENUS!”

Fun Fact: The actor’s makeup applications were primarily made with gelatin. Up close, the effect is uncanny and really impressive. Unfortunately the film is hard to recommend otherwise. There’s some outstanding nature photography, a few nice matte paintings, and the lead’s excellent (considering) performances… but overall, it’s brutal getting through this movie.
