Female figures were often placed above the entrance to the men’s house in Belauan society. This figure depicts a legendary woman named Dilukai whose excessive promiscuity caused her angry father to tie her in an exposed position to warn village women to be more chaste [473×600]

Sheila n’a gig
In fact, that narrative was created by Christian missionaries: Dilukai was not a specific woman, it’s the name of a protective image. The actual narrative is that there was a bad man, and there were images of his sister put up because it’s taboo for him to see a relative’s genitals. It’s like a sheela na gig
Thats one of the more detailed potrayals of nudity of a female in non modern art.
