      **Some additional information:**

Congs are mysterious artefacts usually made of jade. They come in a variety sizes, some tall and some short, and some weighing as much as 6 kilograms. They often have detailed patterns. They were produced for thousands of years, from the Neolithic Xuejiagang culture to the later Shang and Zhou dynasties.

No one knows the original function of the congs. They may have been status symbols, as jade was a prestigious material which was hard to carve. Many congs have been found in tombs, usually amongst other valuable objects. They have been related to the stone and jade discs placed on the bodies of deceased people up to 7000 years ago. They’re generally believed to have served some kind of ritual purpose, but a practical purpose can’t be ruled out.
