    4. Only disappointment was I couldn’t get my credit balance refunded and had to move it to Teams by default.

It had the potential to became what Zoom is today. But Microsoft had no idea what they wanted Skype to be.

It wasn’t meant to be a texting platform like Aim or MSN, it was more of a “digital camera landline” replacement.

Microsoft also made it way too intrusive. Remember when you had to look on google on how to uninstall it?

Skype was terrible. I only ever used it when I had to voice chat with someone too technologically illiterate to setup one of the much better alternatives, and for whatever reason a good old phone call wasn’t an option. That didn’t happen much at all.

    8. My discord channel is literally named “Is not Skype”. We transitioned from Skype to discord cuz it was dogshit

Maybe not the best, but it definitely set a standard all others had to match or surpass.

I wouldn’t say the best, but it lays the groundwork for what we have now.

Aahhh the friendships that it started and ended, joining minecraft and sharing skype to play factions and shit. I wonder what some of the people i met on skype are doing now.

    12. I remember when the icon was red,and me and some friends used it to talk and play with “Medal Of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead”

    13. It was dogshit, always has been. Only thing it did better than MSN messenger was group calls. Vaguely.
I never understood why my friends flocked to Skype despite MSN Messenger being our normally preferred platform and at the time it was superior to Skype in every way.

On top of that Microsoft does them dirty after buying them and have zero clue on what to do with it afterwards and squanders major potential at every step. Baffling.
