I hate these memes. They completly underplay his actual discoveries. He build a mathematical framework from scratch with infinitesimal calculus and then using all data accessible to him and some fancy maths shit, he figured out, that you can always choose a frame of reference where something isn’t moving, which via Galilei-transform means, that something that doesn’t have a force acting on it must remain in rest, but it means so much more mathematically, because it allowed him to turn this into a possible way to solve problems and derive equations of motion.
