Even cowboys in the old west took their guns off when they were working.
Why? because the guns were tools, and not some fashion accessory tied into their entire projected identity.

I’ve had numerous plumbers tell me they meet the absolute craziest people when they are working on septic, toilets, and sprinklers. No idea why, but all of them said those types of work (head usually lower than your body) are when you can’t pay attention so you are vulnerable. Thus it’s common to see them carrying. Though tbh they usually conceal carry….
Personally I’d never open carry when working anywhere as my guns have sentimental value and I don’t want rust, grime, scratches, etc on them. Concealed carry though yeah I can see that

In Houston, thieves will drive around neighborhoods, jump out and steal expensive equipment sitting in the driveway/frontyard when they have people working on the house.

I understand the visceral feeling of being safer when carrying a weapon, but statistically it’s really not a good bet to make, especially if there are people you care about near by. Guns are used far more often to intimidate friends and family than to discourage attackers. Self defense gun use is not more effective than other protective actions at preventing injury. I know it feels counterintuitive, but people really are safer without instantly lethal weapons readily available.
The last crew was taken out by a rabbit, and they couldn’t afford the holy grenade, so now they carry.

honestly probably due to tool theft. i know people have been getting a lot bolder as of recent and even running up and stealing tools from right next to workers during the day.

I have a question. If anyone knows the answer. If they are working for me, can I ask them to leave the guns on the car? Of course they can refuse service but I honestly wanna know if this is something I can do.
