This cave painting depicting a battle scene from Sefar, in Algeria, is one of the earliest examples of depictions of violence in the world. It shows 24 men on the left-hand side fighting 13 people on the right-hand side with bows and arrows and, in one case an axe. 5000-3500 BC [850×568]

    1. Is it an axe or is it one of those javelin thrower things? Kinda weird to wield an ax at that distance.

      Imagine being 5000 year old cave painter with terrible lighting and limited color but somehow you managed to convey movement and action. Makes me think we aren’t that different from 5000 years ago

      You refer to men and people separately, are there gender differences visible in the painting?
