Looks like the basket of a ski pole.
We put the invention of the wheel at only a few thousand years, surely humans making this understood how it could be used elsewhere. It’s hardly a leap of the imagination for them.
It looks like an ornament, worn grooves on the bottom lobe look like they were made from a thong over many years
I imagine this was mammoth ivory?
