The side nods are more dependent on the face you make. If you smile with a side nod it is “check her out” but if you make a serious face and side nod it’s “I need to talk in private”. That’s how I see it at least

For me it’s:
Side nod with serious face glancing down = Come here and don’t be obvious.
Side nod with serious face and looking towards someone = Pay attention to this suspicious person.
Side nod with a smile/stifled laugh = look at something/someone I think is funny without being obvious.
I agree with your up and down nods, but I have one more:
Nod up at someone while glancing behind them = Look behind you.
