[Another picture](https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/former-president-of-lebanon-camille-chamoun-pictured-on-news-photo/1001534130) taken the same day; the older man is Camille Chamoun, former president of Lebanon and the father of Dany. Here’s [another picture](https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/australian-born-fashion-model-and-actress-patti-morgan-with-news-photo/605580581) of Dany and his wife Patti, taken three years earlier; it seems like they attempted to cultivate a sporty-but-sophisticated kind of image. Patti, born [Patti Morgan](https://forgottenaustralianactresses.com/2019/06/28/patti-morgan-from-bondi-beach-to-beirut/), was an Australian actress and model. They divorced around 1980, and she left Lebanon.

During the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990), Chamoun commanded the Tigers Militia, the military wing of the National Liberal Party, or NLP. The Tigers were involved in the Karantina massacre of 1976, when Christian militias overran the “Karantina” district in East Beirut and killed 600-1,500 Muslim residents. In 1980, the Tigers were eliminated as a viable military force by the rival Christian Lebanese Forces (LF) under the command of Bachir Gemayel. Chamoun went into self-imposed exile, then returned to re-enter Lebanese Christian politics.

In 1990, Chamoun was assassinated in his apartment by a group of gunmen, who also killed his second wife, Ingrid, and their two sons, Tarek (7) and Julian (5). His 11-month-old daughter, Tamara, was injured in the attack, but survived.
