Do you remember this 1993 photo? This photo was taken in Sudan. A vulture is waiting for the death of that hungry little GIRL. The title of this photo was
"THE VULTURE IS HUNGRY".
Critics heavily scrutinized Carter for spending roughly 20 minutes framing and taking the photograph rather than immediately helping the child. One prominent critique published in the St. Petersburg Times stated, "The man adjusting his lens to take just the right frame of her suffering might just as well be a predator, another vulture on the scene
On July 27, 1994—just three months after receiving his Pulitzer Prize—33-year-old Carter died by suicide. His suicide note read in part: "I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain… of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen…"
The photographer was Kevin Carter from South Africa..!
