My nan passed in 2009 and my grandad passed recently in October 2025. He and my nan lived next door to my childhood home (my mam and younger siblings still live there now) so growing up we saw them pretty much every day. My mam spent weeks after his death cleaning out his house and came across photos we've never seen before.
For some background- my grandad was born in Newcastle after his parents came through to England from Ireland but eventually moved to South Yorkshire. His dad died young (in his 30s we believe) so my mam never met him. All we know is his name was Ernest. We don't know anything else about his family history.
The first photos we're unsure who is on the left but the right is my grandad when he was a child. He looks exactly like my brother now who is 10. Unsure when exactly this photo was taken but if he's around the same age, then it would be 1960 ish. In this pile of photos was someone named John O'Neil who we don't know of too.
