In this final chart on the topic of global aviation CO₂ emissions, I look at the relative contribution of international vs. domestic aviation.
On average, international aviation accounts for ~72% of the sector's emissions.
During the closure of the world's major airport hubs, that share dropped to 60%.
While international flights were hit hard by border closures and travel bans, domestic flights were less affected, leading to an increase to their relative contribution to aviation emissions.
