POV: India got fed up with asking Portugal to let go of Goa,but they simply wouldn’t listen. This resulted in the 1961 annexation and the Portuguese forces got kicked out.

Tp be honest I am still amazed that Portugal tried to even keep Goa up to the 1961s. Even Britain didn’t try to keep Hong Kong after the lease expired.

Portugal had held onto it for over 400 years. I can see why they refused to just hand it over.

Mostly christians of goa have positive view of portuguese but the rest of population hindus and muslims consider themselves fully indian.
Fun fact :the Christians were converted through torture and persecution but since portugal is a developed country they support it instead of India.

“Omg, if I keep ignoring the growing superpower with 1000 times my population they’ll just go away”
Goa was already lost. They could have done like the UK eith Hong Kong: accept their loss and make the most out of it by handing it over in good faith and get a good deal out of it.
