I actually just inherited this from my grandmother which was my great great grandmothers

Ours sat out on an end table year round, untouched. We would eat those kinds of nuts through other means. That bowl was for “decoration” I guess. I eventually ate one of the 5+ year old walnuts, out of curiosity, and it tasted awful. Though probably not as bad as when my brother ate a raisin off a shellacked loaf of bread on a dare.

I inherited that nutcracker set. The nutcrackers, themselves, aren’t hard to find. But you never see those little picks.

We had one too!

We had one too. On the end table near the sofa, along with my father’s pipe & tobacco. *I still hate Brazil nuts.

Eaten in order: hazelnut, pecan, walnut, and leave the almond, & Brazil nuts for the siblings

And those nuts were probably years old.

You want some saltless dry nuts with no flavor? Heck yeah!
I actually like plain walnuts but that’s it.

I still have those exact nut crackers and pickers.

My grandparents always had these out.

My mom left it out thinking we would rather eat nuts than a candy bar. 😜

My parents would just have a big bowl filled with keys and upside pineapple decorations and yell at me to stay in my room.

We had family that were walnut and pecan growers – so that bowl and nutcracker got plenty of use.

I remember those surgical little pickers to pluck all the meat out of the walnuts. My grandparents would restock from Thanksgiving to Christmas, makes me nostalgic for the holidays.

This looks like Thanksgiving & Christmas.

We only had them around the holidays.
I freaking love them.
I am going to see if the store has them tomorrow.

Never seen that before but reminded me of going to my grandparents and they would always have that nut cracker and nuts out. Enjoyed breaking them open and eating them.

My grandmother has this set. It was out year round. If we asked for candy this is what she gave us. Is this why we were healthier back then?
My grandfather always had Reese’s peanut butter cups hidden in his top dresser drawer that my grandmother didn’t know about lol.
