I like the fact that all the people who defend Kirk are essentially calling him too stupid to understand simple facts like “You need at least 1500 hours in smaller aircraft, and many more hours in a simulator before you are allowed to be a *co-pilot* in a commercial jet. No airline is putting incompetent pilots in the cockpit based on race.”
But he wasn’t dumb. He knew that. That’s why the “context!” excuse people use for this makes it *worse*. He knew it was racist bullshit, but that’s exactly what he was selling.
