for a long time I was stuck in this weird cycle
some days I’d do nothing at all and feel guilty about it
other days I’d try to fix everything at once — routines, habits, plans — and burn out in like 2–3 days
it felt like I was either being lazy or trying too hard, but never actually consistent
and meanwhile time just kept passing anyway
weeks felt slow, but months disappeared
that started bothering me a lot — like I know my time is limited, but I wasn’t really seeing it
there’s this line the Ancient One says in Doctor Strange that stuck with me:
“we don’t get to choose our time. death is what gives life meaning… to know your days are numbered, your time is short”
idk, that hit harder than any productivity advice I’ve read
so I tried something really simple
I put this “life in weeks” type wallpaper on my phone (found an app for it)
it basically shows your whole life as a grid — each tiny box is one week
as each week passes, one more box is gone
I can also mark important moments on it, so I don’t forget things that actually matter
and since it updates every week with a new quote, I keep seeing it every time I unlock my phone
it’s not motivation… it’s more like a quiet memento mori reminder
like “this week is gone, whether you use it or not”
and that alone changed how I approach things
I stopped trying to fix everything
now I just ask myself — what actually matters this week?
still figuring things out, but I feel way less stuck than before
curious if anyone else has something that keeps them aware like this
