Im an insomniac who takes seroquel. It makes my sleepwalking worse and turns my hunger up to 11. I tried starting a fast yesterday and woke up this morning to find someone tried to eat my apple cinnamon scented candle from Costco. (r/mildlyinteresting removed my post 😒)

I worked in the mental health field for years, and my clients generally don’t have much positive to say about Seroquel.

Typically both Trazodone and Mirtazapine seem to give a better experience, though obviously, everyone’s physiology is different.

I swear Seroquel doesn’t actually make you tired. It just makes you eat enough to go into a food coma 😂

If it makes you feel any better.

I worry about wanting to eat those damn things if I’m just a little high.

They smell too good and too real!!!!

Was on Seroquel for years I was useless in the morning and would go on binges while sleep walking eating cubes of butter and loaves of bread. I should have gotten off it a lot sooner than I did.

Seroquel definitely makes you ravenous, I’ve been there. Lol never tried to eat a candle, though.

The hunger on Seroquel is unreal. I once ate a raw onion like an apple at 3am. No memory of it.

Seroquel is crazy serious stuff. I’d sleepwalk and eat everything in the kitchen, literally, even stuff I didn’t like. I once (that I KNOW of) sleep drove on it. Terrifying.

    8. I take melatonin but same. I get up in the middle of the night and sleep eat!! Then I have dreams that are basically another life

    9. LMFAO. this reminds me of a story about my dad from his drunken years in the late 70’s..

He was out partying with my mom and his cousin and his wife. Got hammered and stayed over at his cousins house for the night. Later in the evening / early morning, he woke up and had the munchies. He went to the fridge and saw a bowl of pudding and started eating it with a spoon. Next morning, his cousins wife opens the fridge and sees the big bowl with a spoon still in it and is like Who the fuck ate my bacon grease?

apparently he was so drunk he thought he was eating pudding, but was eating cold bacon grease out of a bowl

    10. The ole’ forbidden cheesecake.  I been that hungry too OP no shame in it, hope you’re ok!

I kept thinking that thin line across the top of the candle was a hair on my phone. Had me there for a couple seconds.

    12. Seroquel/quetiapine I’d an antipsychotic. If you don’t need it it can sometimes make you trip. Makes you fat sometimes too, by messing with stuff and making your brain think “SHIT. I need some energy, QUICK.” So you eat sugary, fatty garbage while your insulin struggles.

    13. Be careful, I lived in a 2 story house, bedroom upstairs completely opposite side of the house, and I would wake up the next morning with empty dishes next to my bed. The scariest part was the dirty pans on the Gas stove! I found a shopping bag from a local store that I had not been to before one time.

I took Seroquel for a while.  A few times I got up in the middle of the night, ate some random stuff out of the fridge, and went back to sleep on the kitchen floor.  Thank the gods it was just sleep munchies and not me getting in my car or something like that.  I hope I never need to take it again.

    15. I take Seroquel for bipolar 1 disorder and it works great. It doesn’t make me tired at all. Probably different reactions for different diagnosis.

I accidentally took a bite out of some soap from wedding gift bag thinking it was chocolate. it was the worst thing ive ever tasted ib my life and ive had fermented shark. it actually stung my teeth

Ugh seroquel has a 15 minute sleep sweet spot for me and if I don’t actively try to fall asleep during that time, I get such a headache.

    18. I take Seroquel at night and a much less dose during the day. I’ve never sleep walked. That I know of? But every fricken night I contemplate if I’m going to die or not. That stuff makes me feel like my hearts gonna stop. I hope you find a remedy to your sleep issue that’s safe for you.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sleep eats because of their meds 😓😅 I’ve eaten so many weird things and had so many funny or WTF moments because of it. Even gave myself a black eye once and woke up naked on the kitchen floor with a half eaten muffin in my hand 😂

    20. As a fellow sleepwalker I sympathize with you. I tend to move things about when I sleepwalk. Once I put my car keys at the bottom of the coffee grounds. Took days to find them.

Another time I just took everything out of the fridge and put it all on the living room coffee table.

Not me cackling. I bet it smelled delicious. I hope you can’t feel it on your teeth.

I take medication for insomnia that also makes me do stupid shit like this 🙃 I’ve eaten a small block of blue watercolour paint, some ash from my fire and I’ve mixed milk and oven cleaner together and brought it upstairs to bed with me. Fortunately I didn’t eat that or I think I’d be a bit dead. I’ve had to put a lock on my bedroom door and put the key in a safe to stop myself. It’s a hassle but you should consider it or you may end up eating something genuinely dangerous 😞

lmao I don’t take seroquel but occasionally I’ll wake up to my food being pillaged. Science can’t explain how I survived eating a whole jar of peanut butter without milk
