Love seeing how much of a pay cut I take every year

I’m pretty sure that’s like 45% to 95% of income. 50% jump is insane.

I agree it should be higher but is there really any place that actually pays minimum wage? I haven’t seen a job for less than $14 in a while and that’s in north Idaho.

Great Depression, my ass!
I tell ya what, if I wasn’t Black (or Asian, or Native American, or Jewish, or Mexican, or Irish, or female, or…well, you get the point) why I’d call up Marty McFly and hitch a quick ride to 100 years ago.

To be fair, most states, especially the highly populous ones, have their own, higher minimum wage. When you account for that, the effective minimum wage legally allowed for an American is closer to $13-14/hr
So the difference in hours worked is not as different as it seems

That would be $5.80/hr but grocery prices have increased by 2,217%.

Ah, the good old days, when you could pay your rent and still have enough money left over for, you know, food and existing

This doesn’t blow my mind, what does is the fact that in 2002 my parents bought their 3 bedroom 2 bath home for $165,000 and today this same house is about $850,000. I was in middle school when they got it and I’m 37 now and I don’t see myself ever owning a home and make more now than my dad did when he bought this house.
