USSR absolutely didn’t need to sign this pact but they wanted to so they could divide Eastern Europe with the Nazis.
They invaded Poland together, divided it together and massacred it’s people together.

Molotov lived till 1986, survived all the purges, executions, etc etc, believed in the USSR till the end. He signed more execution lists than Stalin even.
