There are two baby foxes in my lap right now (don’t worry, I’m not keeping them)

How’d you find them? And why is your hand bleeding, did you get scratched?

    2. I’m assuming these are wild foxes and not captive bred so.. I hope you didn’t get bit or scratched.. If you did, you’ve likely killed them.

Dunno where you live but my local rehab has been forced to have fox and weasel kits euthanized before because the people who brought them in had been playing with them, resulting in scratches.

It did not matter if that person immediately got vaccinated for rabies. It did not matter that those animals did not appear to be sick. They were still euthanized and tested for rabies.

They are dead because people who thought they were doing the right thing couldn’t resist playing with them instead of taking precautions to be as hands-off as possible.

Edit: I want to note that it does not mean they *will* be euthanized if it is found out/suspected someone has been bit or scratched. This is just a common warning I see rehabbers pleading and warning about.

Everyone is worried about rabies shots (which FAIR! Get them!!!) and I’m over here like, “I’m so jealous!” They are so cute! I’ve always loved foxes. I wish they were with their momma but they’re so lucky to have been (I assume) rescued by you guys and is being taken to a wildlife sanctuary.
