Yall really expecting plot from the game series that’s plot is “plumber want cake”? I’m here to turn my brain off and point at the screen.

Nintendo saw Galaxy win game of the year and said noted, here’s Mario Odyssey 2 but Peach is there sometimes

The movie isn’t anything mind blowing or Oscar worthy but it sure is entertaining and a heavy cash cow for illumination/Nintendo

My experience was taking an edible, going in, and thinking ‘hell yeah they got a gambling galaxy’

Nintendo logic: If the gameplay is a 10/10, the plot can be a sticky note

Damn, first time ever a children’s movie didn’t have complex themes. Almost like they know what they’re doing though because it will still break a billion at the box office.

all of the Sequels Nintendo actually made were quite good
now this Movie that uses the Brand but wasn’t made by Nintendo, that’s what’s mediocre at best

We forget this is Illumination we’re talking about. They honestly got lucky with the first one.

This movie has become the ultimate “Reddit is not real life” example. On Reddit it’s the first movie ever and clearly everyone who sees it hates it.
In real life it’s on its way to making a billion plus dollars plus merchandising, it’s getting generally strong audience reviews and Nintendo/Illumination have been 100% vindicated.

I’ve never seen grown adults so worked up over a fucking kids movie before. Y’all need to touch some grass.

what are you talking about? its going to be one of the biggest movie releases of 2026? audiences do want shallow sequels with a bunch of cameos.
at minimum, you have to consider most people buying tickets to see super mario galaxy are 30-40 year old parents who either use to be fans themselves or are going just for their children to see it and do not care about the plot. i guarantee you no 10 year old who has seen it is going to care if their is barely a plot. theyve already been preconditioned to get sucked into brainrot random shit, if anything older people/adults just dont understand how movies are made these days, because most kids movies are being designed nowadays with the idea that kids have zero attention span anymore and its more important to add viral moments to a movie than have a good plot.

I am once again begging redditors to understand they are not the majority opinion on most things
Why do you think they continue to make these? Because people absolutely want them and will spend money to see them.

Im not going into the mario movie looking for an amazing plot and storyline. It’s a kids movie, my kid wants to see familiar characters, cool colors, and slapstick humorish type jokes.
I assume this is much like the first in those terms.

The film is making bank. I think audiences want it…

They’re describing themselves and don’t even know it
Nintendo: ‘The plot is basically just a 5-minute bedtime story, but wait until you hear the Rosalina storybook music while drifting through space
Nintendo didn’t make the movie. Illumination did.
The haters are more toxic than the fans and I’m sick of pretending they’re not.
