chat is this some sort of propaganda campaign? 3rd post about how cool Oil is i’ve seen today

    2. Why did we stop going in decreasing numerical order?!?

That bothers me more than the oil propaganda.

Oh, thanks for the stuff in the parenthesis. I wouldn’t have known that diesel is diesel without it.

    4. Are not a lot of plastics made from oil? I can’t believe their representation is so small to not even register on the chart? What am I misunderstanding?

A refinery is just one big still. What you see here is how may times it’s been distilled. Think of it like 8x distilled vodka. Gasoline is just the left over after everything else has been extracted. Was once thought of as waste material.

Every oil field has a different profile. Some general industry terms to categorize them:
      * Heavy: More heavy hydrocarbons (ie. asphalt, jet fuel)
      * Light: More light hydrocarbons (ie. gasoline, lpg)
      * Sour: More sulfur content, must be heavily desulfurized
      * Sweet: Less sulfur content

    7. I don’t understand why do we measure crude oil in barrels. Where exactly barrels are used in the crude oil supply chain?

So it this the same for the oil that is pumped from the western states?

Yet diesel is so high…oh wait its dirtier so we charge more to punish the consumer

    10. The chart doesn’t show processing gain for crude oil. The magic product that yields more out than it takes in.

      Annoying as fuck.
It’s not organized alphabetically, or by %. Is it by density?

      WHY IS IT NOT LABELED?!

And funny enough, out of all that oil, not much of it goes to create motor oil. Though today most cars use synthetics.

Layering them like this does look very nice, but the combination actually tastes terrible.

Not sure what I thought it was but I just learned asphalt is a derivative of crude oil. I suppose it makes sense. Like the old chip tar seal roads. I suppose I thought it was closer to creosote.
