No, Japan doesn’t.
Some random company with no capability to achieve it made a render.

They are talking about transferring the energy from the moon to earth via microwaves and lasers. Can someone explain if this is viable for really large amounts of energy we would be talking about?

Everyone has a great idea and no one will deliver on anything. There are countless other ways that aren’t out of a sci-fi movie that could deliver cleaner energy here on earth, and not require 50 years and trillions of dollars for technology that doesn’t even exist yet to finish.

Hi Reddit, Japan here, how y’all doing? Just wanted to drop by and say this is the first I’m hearing about this. Peace, out.

Not entirely implausible… once we’ve established a permanent moon base with launch capabilities and serious industrial manufacturing.
I’d say a century out, at the earliest, barring some major changes in priorities and/or tech.

I think in the next 20-30 years we’ll likely see the start of an ambitious space project but absolutely nothing near this scale.
Something akin to orbital mirrors redirecting sunlight onto solar panels on earth or an attempt at a more permanent orbital base, possibly the first space mining project something like that.
