Chick Fil-A has an “unused sauces” bin on top of the trash can. It looks like they’re reusing them to save money

Does it save money? For sure. But I’m all in favor of this at places because it also saves waste.

    2. How can you reuse something unused?

They aren’t saving money. They are trying not to *waste* it.

If you are afraid of an unopened sauce packet that has been unsupervised inside of a restaurant for a short period of time; don’t take from this bin I guess lol

but you should also never eat out if that is your genuine level of concern lol

Save money and Save waste. Absolutely no issue with that.

Much better than throwing it out to be dumped in a hole somewhere leaking into groundwater.

No, they just sit there until the unused sauce guy comes around to grab em and take em back to the unused sauce company……..

What’s the difference between this and the self serve bins of brand new sauces? These have just touched one more hand. You still have no idea what happened to them before they were set out for consumption in the first place because I assume most people’s hesitation is “what if someone did something to them”

The concept of throwing away unused and *sealed* food is the concerning stance, providing a way to not waste them is much more basic and reasonable

    7. This is why mother nature is hurting, someone’s bitching about unused sauces when they should still be using the giant things with less plastic

Mind you most diners have communal condiments, it think sealed single use sauce reclaim is perfectly safe.

    9. This is nice. Personally I just put my unused sauce packets back in the bins but if this saves waste from lazy people then I’m for it.

Crazy that some people are against reducing waste because it might also save Chick-fil-A some money.

I used to work fast food and the volume of unopened product that gets trashed is crazy. Sauces, napkins, lids, straws, lots of them go right into the trash because someone grabbed too many or dented one while removing it

    12. Just want to let you guys know as someone who worked at CFA when we rolled out the “unused sauce” bin. All the sauces get looked over for rips and tears, then they individually get wiped down with a sanitized cleaning cloth before getting tossed back with the other sauces behind the counter

    13. I don’t know why some comments think this is gross. They’re *unused* and just sat on the table while they ate their food.

    14. You think it’s important to throw uneaten, sealed, and safe-to-eat food in the trash? Why?

I worked for them 20 years ago and they did this then too. It’s sealed product, the same as it was when handed to you. No need to waste it if someone asked for or was given too much.

How are they being *reused* if they were never *used*. The sign on the box says *unused*.

    17. …why wouldn’t they?

You must be the flight attendant who was all confused why I was handing her back three unopened creamers when I asked for one and she gave me four. Put em back where they’re kept, why would I toss them?

The people grossed out by this are the same people that’s okay with a cashier handing them a handful of sauce packs after touching cash and not washing their hands lol

Are we really getting upset about *reducing plastic waste*

They’re sealed containers. Get a grip.
