Wherevis this, and what is time of year does this happen? It is now a life goal of mine for this to never happen to me!

    2. Why would you post this without more info?

What are they? They look so chonky! Where is it happening? Does it happen every year? How long does it last?

    3. All I can think of is the satisfying crunch noise they would make if I drove through that.

Looks like that first year of the lanternfly invasion where I’m at… Before the birds and other fauna realized they’re edible.

This happens where I live with crickets every few years. Not afraid of spiders, scorpions, snakes, rats etc but jumpy bugs freak me out.

    6. In the summer when i get ALOT of crickets by my back door. I trap lizards alive, at night when the crickets come out i release the lizards.

If I knew that was coming or ever happened before, I’d be ready with either a broom or leaf blower for any walk I would need to take in that environment, lol

    8. Those are locust, I was expecting cockroaches which on comparison are not that bad.

      Just let them be

I commented on a couple other comments but here are some photos of these same locusts in my Nevada town. They come through during summer every few years. This was our local hospital. You can search “Mormon crickets”. They’re giant, smell like burning garbage, and are cannibalistic. They’re absolute nightmare fuel.

They can get so thick on the highway roads that they create a slippery surface like ice and have caused bad accidents.
