I think he either suffered a cardiovascular event after being mortified at the losses and humiliation… for example during soccer finals in the Netherlands it was once noted that elderly natural deaths spiked.
Alternatively an altercation: imagine the military ‘Der Untergang’ style except some general just lost it as dead soldiers were humiliated and just hit him in the face. He is also said to target women, a woman could also have lost it and hit him hard… an ~80 year old man being struck hard often results in complications.
