If anything, France has shown itself to be a resilient country. It endured a brutal military occupation where much of its infrastructure was destroyed during the subsequent reclamation. It then survived several decades of political instability and notably pursued relative military isolation despite being part of NATO. It has been the 2nd or 3rd biggest economy in Europe for all of this century.

Since this was obviously written by an American, I guess we can once again thank our excellent school system for these dummies not knowing that the French are one of the reasons the United States exists today. All of the assistance they gave us broke them financially. I generally don’t insult France simply because of their help during the revolution. I’m guessing the person who wrote that couldn’t tell you a thing about Spain other than how it’s spelled, and they probably just got lucky this time.
