One of only seven ‘Historical Rock Crystal’ Jugs in the world. Made in Egypt during the Fatimid Period in 909 AD. This rock crystal ewers were carved from a single block of rock crystal without breaking the raw rock crystal.
The gold/enamel mounts are 19th century French and the piece was bought into a private collection from Christie’s auction house in 2008 and is currently on exhibition at the Pergamon museum, Germany.

Reminiscent of Eleanor of Aquitaine’s lamp. I’m going to guess similar carving techniques?

They must have broken quite a few to get a perfect one.
