Absent mindedly walked into a Jersey Mikes once right when it was closing. I noticed they were putting stuff away, so I just said something like no worries I’ll get a sandwich tomorrow. They looked so relieved. Then one said hey wait, what sandwich were you going to order. Regular 13 on white, Mikes way no tomato. He assesses and they hadn’t put the lettuce or onion away yet and made the sandwich.

Got PTSD, once we had a bachelor party come into our restaurant, like 20 minutes before close and ordered like 6 large pizzas and extra items .
Of course at this time we’re already in cleaning mode, flipping all our 9 pans, cleaning under the pizza building station fridges and restocking , doing counts, all the other things and they stayed for over an hour after closing time.

I remember going into Panda Express 10 mins before closing and one of the guys had a complete breakdown. Slamming pans and ladles all while me and bro were standing there super high like, ok can we get orange chicken. Eventually the other crew calmed him down and they made our order. If we weren’t high as hell we would’ve just left but we was hungry lol

As someone who works in fast food this is literally our internal monolog when this happens because it absolutely happens we had a guy come in 5 minutes before we were supposed to close and wanted coffee we told him we were closing in 5 minutes because it was 11 o’clock at night and he he went yeah yeah sure no problem mf would not leave I can’t tell you how many times somebody came in 5 minutes before we’re supposed to close and ordered $60 worth of food like you couldn’t order that an hour ago? Just now that if you come in 10 minutes before a restaurant closes we hate you every one of us. That man in the back is doing exactly what all of us want to do when somebody comes in 2 minutes before we’re supposed to close and orders 60 biscuits f him.

I worked in a mom and pop pizza joint in high school. One time, right before we were about to close, someone walked in and asked if we were still open.
“Yeah, what can I get you?” I says.
The guy ordered like 2 pizzas, waited quietly until they were ready, and left.
When he left, the pizza chef locked the door behind him, looked dead at me and said “If you ever fucking do that again, I’m leaving, and YOU’RE gonna make the fucking pizzas, okay? Next time, I’LL fucking talk to the customer.”

It would have played much better had the cashier maintained a straight face through the whole interaction, offering up selling on some of the items and having the guy in the back scream various threats at the cashier.
Besides smashing pots and pans. I agree though it was funny.

This reminds me of when I went to try out this food cart one day and my roommates sent me with orders and they were tryna get a spread to sample the food… it was like 2hrs before they closed.( They only ran like 10am-3pm. ) I was placing the order and the lady ringing me up was being normal, but anything after the second side I ordered, the dude cooking (who was like 2ft away) kept loudly being like “god dammit!” “Are you fucking serious?” “Jesus! anything else?!” I was scared! But also like… didn’t want to not order what the guys wanted?
