When you’ve only ever read “reader x character” stories on Watpad and you try out a book for the first time.

    1. Do you think books are only written in first person? And all other perspectives are for the internet?

I often dislike first person because it’s so easy for the perspective character to become a whiny shit.

I cannot even wrap my head around how these people process language if they think someone talking about themselves in the first person means they’re talking about the person hearing the story.

I assume that if they were to read my comment they would think that I am saying they cannot wrap their heads around, or that they are the ones making this assumption in this sentence. That made my (their) head hurt to even type.

I truly underestimated the depth of human stupidity. Growing up I honestly had no idea just how dumb people could get. Then I found this site.

    5. I knew there were people who refused to read books written in *third person* but now there’s a group of people refusing to read first person too?

I mean, read whatever makes you happy, but this seems like the randomest reason to reject a book.

I put more thought into trying to understand what they were complaining about than they have put into books over the course of their lifetime.
