Serious question, do average folks in NK have access to devices that could be used to access this information?

Guy gets dragged to the gulag where he will serve the rest of his life, hard labor all because he wanted to watch Cars 2 with no subtitles on a pink USB drive that is sparkly and says “100% that BITCH” on it.

I wonder how many people died in labor camps because they had one of these USB drives

    4. This is actually pretty cruel imo. North Korean people aren’t brainwashed people that don’t know that the outside world exists; they’re unlucky citizens of an ultra-authoritarian country. If they’re caught with Western media then North Korea will literally kill them. There was a [recent report](https://www.amnesty.org.uk/latest/north-korea-teenagers-executed-for-watching-squid-game-as-regime-wages-war-on-k-pop/) that they executed teenagers for watching South Korean content.

    5. Oh of course you will erase all of it. Surely you wouldn’t use what’s on those USBs for anything.

I’m not going to get some poor bastard gulag’d. They have it rough as it is.

Wouldnt this lead to some serious consequences for citizens consuming content?

IIRC some dude who made copies of squid game was given the death penality.

I’m just glad that I, as an American, am not subjected to any propaganda whatsoever from my government.

Donate USB that are probably half broken? Just use brand new ones if you actually manage to sneak them in

    10. I wonder how many of these get checked before they are sent over and if not, how many of them are porn. 🤔

    11. Episode 71: Information Monopoly of the Darknet Diaries podcast covers this, very interesting stuff

    12. I don’t think it’s wise to ship a USB with your data (potentially) still on it to North Korea.

    13. It’s stupid to give up your drive unless you’ve used a utility to securely overwrite the whole thing: deleted shit is still on the drives

This is such an old image, I’m almost certain a bot is posting this.

    15. There is a really good episode on the podcast “Darnet Diaries” about this

Next up: america. Maybe those poor people will realize they are trapped inside an evil dictatorship they created, and voted for two separate times. Like losers. And now they won’t do anything about it, like hold their sitting president accountable for any wrongdoings, be that a war crime or being named hundreds of times in documents that question whether he ate people, and touched kids a lot.

    17. Henry Rollins has / had multiple TB SSD drives that he had all his friends copy their music onto, curated in to genres > bands > albums and brought them with him when he travelled and gave the drives to kids to download and then share with their friends.

How would they exactly get these into the country? They have a thumb on anything going in. They wouldn’t allow it and people are stupid enough to fall prey. Looks like a scam.
