You could leave your laptop on a train in Japan and it wouldnt be surprising to find it days later untouched.

Meanwhile, at the other end English fans were ripping up the seats and throwing them at the players.

Can you imagine if everyone just threw away their own trash instead of littering?

They always do this at sport events. It’s a cultural thing

You should see the way they leave the locker rooms, spotless.

Back in the 90’s I traveled to Japan and left my bag somewhere. I came back to it 30 minutes later with someone sitting next to it to make sure it was safe. The Japanese are very courteous.

Those people are on another level. A bus of Japanese tourists approached my wife in Zion National Park and thanked her for buying a Canon camera “thank you for buying Japan”

And they do this after EVERY game.

After the 3rd grade concert a couple weeks ago, a bunch of parents put away the 200 chairs and swept the gym floor. In America!! Yay us!

How do we get fellow Americans to adopt this mindset?

In my country (russia) fans (mostly males) can destroy city and harass everyone after football. Nice to see other culture of watching sport

I was in japan last summer. There were no trash cans anywhere on the streets. And, yet, I never saw a single piece of litter. People take bags with them and take all their trash home. It was impressive. And the school kids clean the classrooms at the end of the day.

This is a trait that we should all adopt.

good thing the england fans left the stadium on their own otherwise the trash removal job would have been much bigger

In the US we roll our windows down while driving down the highway and throw our stuff out for someone less than us to pick it up.
Our culture sucks sometimes.

You know how if your cat brings you a mouse, it’s really saying it thinks you’re too helpless to hunt for yourself? This is actually how the Japanese let people know they think they are too disgusting to pick up after themselves.
